- Within the LAC service we really value participation with our Looked After children and we have invested in this area of Service
- The LAC service has a group of existing young people in care whom act as a voice to other Looked After Children hence the title ‘’LOUD VOICES’’ group
The group meets up five times a year and consults on key areas of development within the service and also educates other professionals regarding their experiences of being in care.
Some of the Loud Voices group achievements:
- Developed Welcome boxes for Children coming into care
- Spoken to prospective Social work students in Bangor University regarding their experience of being in care
- Met with CSSIW inspectors in the Risky behaviour inspection and LAC inspection regarding their experiences and shared how they feel listened to and consulted.
- Created a young person’s friendly Corporate Parenting plan with the youth council and the participation and LAC team.
- Feedback to the Corporate Parenting team regarding the work they are doing
- Linked up with the ‘’Buddies’’ group of adult care leavers to learn from their experiences of being in care.
- Development for the next 12 months is recruiting more loud voices representatives and holding a recruitment event as several of the young people in the group have turned 18 therefore we need a further recruitment drive.
