Improvements planned for 2014-15

 

  • The North Wales Regional Safeguarding board will become more established and influential.
  • To undertake regular audits of Child Protection and POVA processes monitoring

o   compliance with Statutory and Local timescales

o   quality of recording

o   outcomes of the process

  • To implement safe recruitment procedures across the Council
  • To introduce a Council wide training programme ensuring a basic awareness of safeguarding issues
  • To ensure safeguarding issues are considered in the relevant Corporate and Regional meetings including:

o   Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB)

o   Adult Safeguarding Board

  • To ensure that risk management is seen as an intrinsic element of the assessment, care planning and review process
  • To improve joint working with CAMHS through joint workshops and to development of a joint action plan
  • Undertake a debrief with the police following a high profile case and produce an action plan

Children and adults are protected from harm and abuse wherever possible

Conwy Social Services have been going through some big changes. Through our Transformation Programme, we’ve been looking at how we need to reorganise some services to reduce the split between the Children and Families department, and Adults Services. Safeguarding is one of those areas, and we’ve been moving towards joining up Children’s safeguarding with POVA (adults) to improve the coordination of both, under one manager. [Read more…]

People will be able to find out where and how to get hold of the help they need when someone may be at risk

Safeguarding is everyone’s business. We all have a responsibility to look out for our families, friends, neighbours and people within our communities. If we think that a person might be at risk, it’s important that we know what to do, and who to tell.

In matters concerning children and young people, the Regional Safeguarding Children Board plays a big part in making sure that services do this well. POVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults) is similarly concerned with the welfare of adults. [Read more…]
